Specifications include, but are not limited to: Background Information Gathering and Stakeholder Engagement: • Compile and edit up to 20 total food system briefs for consistency and clarity that will be written by “Lead Authors” with subject-matter expertise and existing stakeholder relationships. Food System brief topics will be established by a Relish Rhody advisory committee before this work commences and will be centered on Rhode Island food products (e.g. beer, produce, etc), markets (K-12 institutions, wholesale, etc) and critical issues (e.g. farmland preservation). • Manage the group of Lead Authors, ensuring timelines are adhered to and final deliverables are met to the satisfaction of the project team • Provide compensation of $1,000 per brief to 20 Lead Authors upon completion of the writing • Write and develop 5 established food system briefs which will include any of the following activities: conduct stakeholder engagement outreach to address barriers, opportunities and recommendations for various food systems issues, markets and products • Support Director of Food Strategy and Commerce project team with planning and cofacilitation of two in-person stakeholder gatherings in Fall 2023/Winter 2024 to provide public feedback and guidance on the Relish Rhody 2.0 process • NOTE: A part-time project coordinator with 25 hours per week will support administrative and program tasks such as scheduling meetings, event planning, note taking and report editing, which should be factored into Proposers’ scopes and budgets. Plan Development & Design • Lead writing and editing of the final food strategy document, which will include strategies, indicators and measurable objectives informed by the “issue briefs.” o Note: There will be additional staff support from the Director of Food Strategy and the Commerce project team. • Develop a list of federal and philanthropic funding opportunities to support implementation of the strategies developed. • Develop food system strategies with measurable outcomes, realistic timelines and clear ownership to advance a shared vision towards 2030. • Lead the graphic design and layout of final food strategy document and food system “issue briefs.”
