Specifications include, but are not limited to: Furnish screened sand suitable for use on roadways to be mixed with salt for road use on snow and ice control is as follows: All products delivered to the Town of Westerly Public Works Department shall be of the State of R.I. Department of Transportation specification or equivalent. A copy of the certification for the above requirement shall be filed with the Town Clerk, if requested, as a condition of contract award. Price quoted shall be binding for a period of one year beginning November 1, 2017 and ending November 1, 2018. Bidders will be expected to have the ability to deliver, to the Public Works Garage on 35 Larry Hirsch Lane, a quantity of at least 150 cubic yards (200 tons) within 24 hours of notification of need. All reasonable efforts will be made to work with the vendor in respect to avoiding weekend and holiday deliveries. In the event of back-to-back storms or other emergencies, emergency orders may be made, and the 24-hour regulation imposed. All orders placed shall be for a minimum delivery of 200 tons. The Town of Westerly or its agents will accept a weight slip on all loads delivered to certify quantity. The weighing shall be done on certified scales of the Town’s choice. The Town may waive weight slips in an emergency situation and accept loads in cubic yards. Delivered products shall be as clean as possible and not contain excessive amounts of clay or silt that would encourage packing or plugging of sander units.
