Testing shall include, but not be limited to the following: 1. 100% of the devices are to be tested annually. A plan to accomplish this shall be submitted for approval within thirty (30) days after completion of the initial inspection. 2. The smoke detector testing must be an approved system such as the “Solo” smoke detection testing system. Canned aerosol smoke, which may damage detectors, will not be allowed. Testing of smoke or heat detectors with magnets will not be allowed. Smoke detector testing, sensitivity and cleaning shall be completed in accordance with NFPA 72-1999. 3. The Contractor shall be required to perform smoke detector calibration tests during the initial year of servicing and from that time forward, as required by applicable codes and ordinances. Both the marked sensitivity on the detector and the rested sensitivity shall be recorded by detector and location. One (1) copy of this record shall be located by the control panel and one (1) copy shall be forwarded to the Maintenance Director. 4. Functionally test all fire alarm control panel operations, including battery standby. Current battery standby calculations, with initial date of battery installation and batteries tested under load conditions or with an appropriate battery test meter, are required. Notations of batteries that are weak or in need of replacement shall be clearly made so the district can replace. 5. Functionally test the ground fault feature, if provided. The circuit shall be grounded once on each zone to verify ground fault indication. 6. Functionally test each individual fire alarm system zone.
