The purpose of this fixed price solicitation is to establish contracts for loading and transporting bulk rock salt from our 10,000 ton warehouse facility located in Columbia, South Carolina and/or our other salt facilities located in South Carolina and deliver to various SCDOT maintenance facilities statewide. 1. Hauling Contractor(s) to provide enough trucks and front end loader(s) to load and haul a minimum of 500 tons of salt per day up to a one-way distance of 160 miles. 2. Work hours to be Monday-Friday 7:00 AM until 4:30 PM with extended hour’s mandatory in the event of an emergency. In the event of an SCDOT emergency need for salt deliveries, the contractor must begin work within 6 hours of notification. 3. Hauling Contractor(s) must be available to haul regardless of the weather if the SCDOT deems the highway route passable. 4. Hauling Contractor(s) will be able to keep equipment on SCDOT site for extended periods as long as actively working at least 4 days per week for a minimum of 2 weeks. 5. Spillage of salt outside of the salt storage facility must be completely swept up before the end of each day or before any expected precipitation. NOTE: All loading shall take place inside the building except for the initial loading performed when the building is almost full. 6. This is a performance contract therefore SCDOT does not specify the contractor’s exact equipment used during the salt loading and hauling, however the minimum truck/ trailer unit capacity to be used is 18 cubic yards and the minimum front-end loader is 4 cubic yard general purpose. (A general-purpose bucket must be used to avoid damage to the asphalt floor.) 7. Care must be taken to avoid damage to the sidewall surfaces of the building interior. 8.
