1. MINIMUM INTERIOR SPECIFICATIONS – STORAGE AREA “WET” • SC DHEC shall be notified in advance of the project as required. • Surface Preparation: SSPC-SP10/NACE 2 Near White Metal Blast Cleaning to all rusted areas. Abrasive blast all remaining interior surfaces in accordance with SSPC-SP7/NACE 4 Brush-off Blast Cleaning. All unwelded seams shall be filled. The surface shall be clean and dry before painting. • 1st Coat: NSF Approved Epoxy applied at 4.0 – 6.0 dry mils. (performance equal to Sherwin Williams Sherplate 600 or Tnemec Series N140 Pota-Pox Plus with manufacturer approved thinner) • Stripe Coat: NSF Approved Epoxy applied to all weld seams and ladders using paint brushes and rollers. (performance equal to Sherwin Williams Sherplate 600 or Tnemec Series N140 Pota-Pox Plus with manufacturer approved thinner) • 2nd Coat: NSF Approved Epoxy applied at 4.0 – 6.0 dry mils. (performance equal to Sherwin Williams Sherplate 600 or Tnemec Series N140 Pota-Pox Plus with manufacturer approved thinner) • Caulk all unwelded roof seams using Silkaflex 1a polyurethane caulk, NSF approved for contact with potable drinking water. • Once coatings have cured and NACE inspection is complete, tank shall be disinfected in accordance with AWWA C652 Spray Method 2, sealed and made ready for service. • Abrasive blast debris shall be tested for 8 RCRA heavy metlas using the TCLP Method. • Dispose of abrasive blast debris in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. 2. MINIMUM EXTERIOR SPECIFICATIONS • Surface Preparation: Power wash the entire exterior surface using 4,000 PSI or greater with a rotating turbo nozzle to remove all loose paint, rust, dirt, scale and foreign matter. SSPC-SP2 & SP3 Hand and Power Tool Cleaning all rust and corrosion, feather the edges, and spot prime all cleaned areas with one coat of epxoy-mastic primer to all bare metal surfaces applied at 2.5 to 3.5 dry mils.
