In February 2022, the City contracted with Miller3 Consulting to do a comprehensive top-to-bottom Disparity Study. This is the first such analysis in 25 years!
Please join us at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, at the Public Works Service Center, 3131 Morris Ave., for Miller3's presentation of its findings. At this public meeting - and going forward, as we implement new processes and practices - we welcome public engagement.
We already try hard to reach out to and assist small businesses and businesses owned by minorities, women, service-disabled veterans, and persons with disabilities. This study will help us do even better. We look forward to receiving Miller3's report.
Almost 50 Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) owners have been interviewed by Miller3 or have taken part in group discussions. Another 3,200 DBE owners were contacted to participate in surveys.
Please note that this study analyzes the City of Knoxville’s procurement of goods and services and does not address disparities in general. Identifying and addressing disparities in how the City does business in our community is a priority for all of us. We look forward to reading Miller3's recommendations, hearing its Nov. 6 presentation, and working with Council to enact improvements.
We do hope you can join us at this meeting.
