Specifications include, but are not limited to: • 1.373 acres of tree felling (see attached construction plan) that is required for all existing trees 3” caliper and larger within the planned limits of construction for the West Ridge High School secondary access road project. • The contractor may take into account any value for the harvesting and selling of the felled trees in their lump sum bid price. Please provide an attached itemized breakdown with your bid package. • Tree felling is not a land disturbing activity therefore the selected contractor will leave all root balls in the ground by cutting the trees approximately five (5) feet above the base of each tree so that the construction contractor for the access driveway, responsible for clearing and grubbing of the smaller trees and woody vegetation along with the root balls, will be able to push or pull root balls out of the ground. • The fence on Henry Harr Road can be cut and removed to get access to the trees on the side of Russell Creek however no temporary stream crossings in Russell Creek or other impacts to the creek surrounding wetlands will be allowed for this tree felling work. • Two alternate staging areas are designated within the school property for this work at the contractor’s option. At the pre-bid we will have the opporuntity to walk to Russell Creek and Henry Harr Road where the required location and number of trees to be removed can be investigated onsite. • Design engineer, A. Morton Thomas and Associates, has had our surveyor flag or designate the limits of clearing for this project prior to the pre-bid meeting. • All work shall be completed no later than March 29th due to the time of year restrictions related to bat roosting season, which begins on April 1, 2024. No time extensions will be considered for ths project beyond March 29th so bidders should be aware of the specific time of year requirements for this planned construction work and the anticipated notice to proceed date no later than March 13, 2024.
