Summary of Specifications:
Project Title: 2015-16 Sidewalk Addition Program
Project Location: Various Locations around the City. TBD
Scope of Work: Construct additional sidewalks in areas around the City of Balch Springs with high foot traffic that do not currently have sidewalks. • All new sidewalks must be ADA compliant. • The contractor will be responsible for all excavating, forming, rebar installation, supplying concrete, pouring and finishing concrete, removing forms, backfilling, compacting dirt and returning to original grade. • Contractor will also be responsible for removal of construction debris and any excess materials. • Sidewalks that butt up to the back of the curb shall be a minimum of 5 feet wide from the back of the curb. • Sidewalks that are separated from the curb shall be a minimum of 4 feet wide. • All rebar used shall be #3 (3/8) installed on 24 inch centers in both directions with chairs every 4 feet. • Any sidewalk that butts up to existing concrete shall be dowelled to the existing concrete. Dowels must be no more than 24 inches apart, drilled into existing concrete a minimum of 4 inches, and must secured in place with epoxy adhesive. • All sidewalks shall be a minimum of 4 inches thick using 3000 psi concrete. • All areas where sidewalks are to be installed will be excavated to a minimum of 5 inches, backfilled with one inch of cushion sand and then be compacted before sidewalk installation can begin.
