2023-24-08 - ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES FOR BOYS & GIRLS CLUB - EXPANSION

The City of Weslaco (“City”) is currently seeking to retain a qualified professional Architectural/Engineering firm to provide Architectural/Engineering design services for the BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF WESLACO FACILITIES EXPANSION project and is inviting interested parties to submit Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) for the City’s consideration.

The Boys & Girls Club of Weslaco current facility, located at 300 N Airport Dr Suite B, Weslaco, TX 78596, is 12,800 sq. ft. which includes 2-program rooms at 278’sq.ft. each, a games room of 1,346’ sq. ft., a cafeteria space which dubs as a multi-purpose/meeting space of 580’sq.ft. and a gym of approximately 4,250 sq. ft. Built in 2013, the current facility no longer meets the needs of the community.

In response, the City of Weslaco is proposing to expand the current facilities by adding and additional stand-alone building at the same location. This expansion project will provide an additional 12,000 square feet, allowing for administrative offices, a dedicated teen center, a gym, and space for social support and family programs.

It is estimated that this two-phase project will cost approximately $2.5 million. Congress Community Project Funding approved in 2023, in the amount of $1.7 million has already been approved, and the organization is currently working to secure additional funding through grants and contributions.
