Specifications include, but are not limited to: The intent of this procurement solicitation, Child Nutrition Program – South Texas Cooperative Fresh Produce, is to establish a pre-qualified list of responsive and responsible Vendors, known as a company or firm whose purpose is to provide economic and efficient commercial distribution of fresh produce items at the best value for the Child Nutrition Program – South Texas Cooperative Members for the operation of their feeding programs, and preparation of nutritious student meals. Item descriptions, specifications and/or technical requirements and estimated quantities are provided for items and an opportunity for Vendors to provide a product list for other items not specified in the BidTable and within the scope and intent of this bid solicitation. Region One ESC and its cooperative members are required to conduct a cost or price analysis for the procurement of goods and/or services not listed in the BidTable, and within the scope of services offered with this bid solicitation. Cooperative members are responsible for the selection of goods and/or services available to meet their individual district menu needs, nutrition goals, storage capabilities, and student/staff/community preferences. Although Vendors may restrict service and sales to certain geographical areas or Member Districts within the scope of this Request for Proposal (RFP), sales without restriction to all participating districts is preferred. Food and beverage items must meet the USDA school nutrition standards and requirements, as well as the Buy American Provision, and any additional requirements mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and/or Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) and/or other applicable state agencies for cooperative members. Vendor(s) must be approved to do business in the state in which they are proposing service of goods in response to this RFP.
