Specifications include, but are not limited to: A.Security guards shall:1. be required to operate x-ray machines, stationary and handheld metaldetectors,2. assist the public with information regarding the Juvenile Justice Center3. enforce laws to maintain an orderly and safe environment for the public andcounty employees.While screening devices are tools used to aid personnel in assuring the safety and welfareof the building and its occupants, they cannot replace a competent staff. Security guardsshall remain alert and prepared to respond to any threats.B.The following equipment shall be inspected for operational readiness. Securityguards shall document on the "Daily Activity Log" that all of the listed equipmenthas been inspected.1. X-ray machines and walk-through metal detectors2. Hand held metal detectors will be logged in/out at Detention Central Controlbefore the security guard s shift begins and must be returned to DetentionCentral Control by the end of the day. Metal detectors must be inspected on adaily basis.3. Surveillance Cameras shall be checked daily for serviceability.4. Communications equipment shall be checked for serviceability and ready foruse at all times.5. Report malfunctioning equipment to the Deputy Chief of Finance andOperations at the Juvenile Justice Center.
