Specifications include, but are not limited to: CONSULTING: Transference of specific knowledge from a professional with wide knowledge of a specific subject in the area of special education. These services may include providing advice to teachers, staff and parents about disabilities and other areas associated with special education trends and issues. EVALUATION: A process of collecting information both formally and informally from a number of sources about a specific student. Evaluations may include standardized tests and other measures whose results may lead to determine if a student meets state and federal eligibility criteria as a child with a disability. PROFESSIONAL STAFF DEVELOPMENT: Activities to enhance professional career growth for teachers and other educational staff in specific areas related to special education. PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT: The process of assisting special education administrators and other personnel in improving special education programs in the District. Improvement targets may result from advice from professionals with expertise in the areas needing improvement. DIRECT SERVICES: Services given to students as recommended by their IEP. Examples include counseling and therapy for the educational setting.
