Specifications include, but are not limited to: The area where grazing will occur is considered “downrange” and has historically been divided into thirty pastures or paddocks to facilitate wildfire prevention. See attached map. The objective of the grazing is to remove the fine fuel biomass (live and standing dead grasses and forbs) within each paddock with a focus on cheatgrass. Target utilization for total fine fuel will be 60% as measured by ERM. Utah Army National Guard (UTARNG) personnel will monitor the paddocks and determine when this objective has been met. Even grazing of each paddock will be facilitated by placement of water and supplement under the direction of the UTARNG project POC. Grazing patterns will be monitored with water and supplement resources being moved to help distribute livestock and thereby meet fine fuel mitigation objectives. The intended grazing period will begin as early as March 15 and continue until targets are met depending on the growth stage of the target vegetation and the quantity of area funded for treatment. The ideal length of occupation RR24-48 Attachment B - Scope of Work by the livestock is 6 weeks with a maximum of 8 weeks. This date may vary based on the vegetation growth of the current year, which is wholly climate dependent. Installation of fencing may begin immediately after the contract is signed; a notice to proceed will be given to the awarded vendor in writing prior to the commencement of grazing. Upon receipt of the notice the vendor will need to be at full stocking density within 3 weeks.
