Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. Specifications include, but are not limited to: (1) ensure providers prescribe, administer, and monitor lawful medications. Narcotics sent with patients upon release must be accompanied by a signed doctor's order; (2) ensure its providers only act as consulting providers and may only make recommendations to the DHHS primary providers regarding whether follow-up treatment merits additional appointments; (3) ensure all treatments are subject to DHHS approval and that DHHS is notified and informed of any treatments; (4) place all patients in a centralized location within GVH conducive to corrections maintaining security without unnecessary transportation expense; (5) assure that inmates receive treatment meeting the requirements and in compliance with all of the Contractor’s written policies, procedures, processes, and plans. DHHS may review and require the Contractor to adjust its policies, procedures, processes, or plans at any time; (6) ensure adequate medical care for incarcerated individuals as mandated by state and federal regulations and in adherence to community standards while keeping hospital costs and physician fees to a minimum; (7) assist DHHS in the resolution of all inmate grievances regarding the Contractor by replying to inmate allegations; (8) furnish an x-ray technologist to operate x-ray equipment at the CUCF upon request when the CUCF technologist is unavailable. The Contractor’s technologist will respond in a timely manner upon request for exams that cannot be scheduled in advance. For emergent exams, the Contractor’s technologist will work with CUCF to determine if the exam can be done at CUCF or at GVH; (9) send, in a sealed envelope, the patient's medical information regarding continued patient care, medical history, orders, diagnostic testing, and medications and other relevant information to the CUCF's medical department and/or another hospital via Utah Department of Corrections facility transport officer escorting the inmate upon patient’s release from the Contractor’s care; (10) provide emergency medical transportation services to and possibly from the hospital. The Contractor shall ensure the: (A) emergency transportation crew are Emergency Medical Technicians and Intravenous certified to administer medications or supplements. (B) ambulance has the following equipment: Oxygen, IVs, splints, backboard for spinal injuries, neck injuries, and major limbs, and defibrillation capabilities. (11) prioritize sending outside referrals to DHHS contracted healthcare providers for services not available at GVH, prior to referring to other providers; and (12) ensure that for all emergencies and referrals being sent to a different hospital, DHHS is notified prior to transport.
