Specifications include, but are not limited to: LINE ITEM 1-HAND THINNING/STRIP FELLING SITE SPECIFICS: SPECIFIC TASKS: Work Limits: All live conifer trees and conifer saplings less than 16” DBH within areas shown on the treatment unit map will be cut/fell. Shapefiles of the individual lines and hand-thinning unit boundary will be provided to be loaded on a GPS receiver upon request. If requested, it will be the contractor’s responsibility to provide a GPS that is capable of loading treatment units from a computer. Vehicle travel is limited to designated routes; off-road/trail vehicle travel is prohibited. Felling: This is a “felling” contract. All live conifer trees and saplings within the individual treatment unit boundaries shall be completely severed from the stump(s). Line Item 1 additional treatment specifications: Stump/sapling height shall not exceed 24” inches measured on the uphill side. Trees over 16” DBH will not be cut. The center line of each individual treatment line will NOT be flagged. It will be contractor’s responsibility to flag and/or follow each of the center lines via GPS and/or smart device. Felling will then be completed 20 feet on both sides of the center line, for a total width of cut of 40 feet. The boundary of the hand thinning unit will NOT be flagged. It will be contractor’s responsibility to flag and/or follow the unit boundary via GPS and/or smart device. Hand thinning will then be completed throughout the entire treatment unit. The COR and/or PI will do periodic inspections which may include compliance monitoring plots to ensure consistency with contract specifications. Records and Notification: The Contractor shall maintain adequate records to allow the Richfield Ranger District, Fishlake National Forest to monitor contract progress and for the Contractor to be accountable for work quality. Contractor records shall include: (1) work dates, (2) number of acres completed, (3) location of acres completed (4) supervisor/inspector name, (5) work quality percentage and (6) supervisor signature and date. Written notice of completed acreage shall be submitted to the Project Manager on a biweekly basis.
