Description of Work The Virginia National Guard Joint Training Center (JTC) at Fort Barfoot is soliciting for the services of responsible contractors to provide crews, equipment and supplies for tree planting shortleaf pine bare root seedlings to prepared sites on a 10’x10’ spacing (436 trees per acre) at JTC-Fort Barfoot. Total acres to be planted within this contract – 99 Acres. Standards: 1. Crop trees shall be planted by hand 2. Seedlings must be shortleaf pine (Pinus echinata) Virginia or North Carolina sourced 3. Planted trees must be uniformly planted on a 10’x10’ spacing 4. Contractor must ensure that trees are planted and handled properly • No “J” rooting • No loose soil around tree roots/collar • Crop trees must be protected from desiccation
