Develop an adaptive Community Forest Management Plan (“CFMP”) for Commonwealth of Virginia (“the State”) on behalf of the Towns of Abingdon, Marion and Damascus that will foster a sustainable community forest that can tolerate increased pressures from pests, disease, invasive plants, climate change and urbanization. The community forest in these communities are recognized as an asset for the community. However, with the emerald ash borer infestation many tree-related activities are reactive in nature and lack comprehensive information on the community forest resource and management tools needed to operate an efficient and small community-focused forestry program. The State seeks professional services in the areas of arboriculture, community forestry, geographic information systems (GIS), natural resource management, and community process facilitation, as well as in other areas of expertise.
