Items sought include, but are not limited to, trees, shrubs, seasonal color plants (both perennial and annual), ground covers, vines and topiaries & espaliered plants. Container sizes normally purchased include 1,3,5,7,15,25 and 45-gallon containers. Seasonal colors are normally purchased in 6 inch pots. In addition to containerized nursery stock, field grown, balled and burlapped trees and shrubs are also needed by the City. Pickup from central nurseries or distribution centers shall be allowed. If product fees are higher at distribution centers, please state as such. If there are problems with the quality of items received, the supplier is responsible for replacing any/or all items at no additional cost to the City of Newport News. Overgrown or stretched plants, plants considered inappropriate in size, overly pot bound plants and/or plants with pests and/or diseases will be refused. Offeror shall be regionally located within a 100-mile radius of the City Nursery and primarily function as a wholesale tree or plant nursery and production service. The City desires that the successful Offeror(s) assign a local representative as the responsible contact with the City personnel responsible for administering the contract. Wholesale growers may submit catalogues/pricing for plant purchases in part or in whole for all categories of plants (trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, ground covers, vines, etc.). All items marked for delivery are to be delivered within seven calendar days from the date of the order (release) unless otherwise specified. Deliveries shall be made between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding City holidays and be made to: City’s Nursery (or other designated City location) at 100 West Minton Drive, Newport News, VA. All deliveries shall be arranged within 24 hours of notification.
