Specifications include, but are not limited to: Adding installations in public spaces as part of its placemaking efforts to celebrate Hampton and encourage citizens and visitors to love where they live while fostering a stronger connection to place. Artists are encouraged to submit designs for these installations, which must be able to withstand outdoor elements, will be semi-permanent or permanent in nature, and may be constructed of materials of the artist’s specification. Installations should not display nudity, obscenity, or profanity. Installations may take any variety of formats but should be interactive. Interactive is not synonymous with high-tech but rather means engage the user and invite the user to participate with the installation. Artists should assume the installation might be touched, climbed, and played on as these installations are public art, located in public settings and should accordingly be durable, safe and easily maintained.
