1) Contract with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Septic and Well Assistance Program (SWAP) to provide a water treatment unit as stated below to eliminate sulfur odor and/or water hardness from the existing water supply related to a new well recently installed. Suggestions for changes or alterations to the existing hot water heater or suggestions for other treatment systems that would address items other than the sulfur odor and water hardness will not be entertained. a. Conduct a water test for water hardness and sulfur for the referenced site b. Provide a water treatment unit as stated below to eliminate sulfur odor from the existing water supply related to a new well recently installed. 2) Install an ANSI/NSF certified (or equivalent) Air Draw Unit with Catalytic Carbon Filtration with a 10 x 54 tank on the existing water well system. Set the flow rate at 5 gpm to achieve 2-3 minute contact time. 3) Install treatment for water hardness to achieve a recommended value of 60 mg/L to 120 mg/L. 4) Install in a location that is protected from freeze and outdoor elements / provide adequate frost and moisture protection of the unit. 5) Install a backwash discharge line, in the direction away from the drainfield area, well area, and house. The line should have positive drainage, and should be buried 2-4 inches below grade, to a surface discharge point. The discharge point shall be protected from erosion by installing gravel or other equivalent means to slow the flow of water upon discharge. The discharge point shall be within the property boundaries and shall not impact neighboring parcels. 6) If required for installation of above-referenced work, subcontract with a certified electrician to provide appropriate electrical connection needed to install referenced treatment units 7) Comply with all requirements of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations (DPOR) as needed for contracting and executing the contract with the Virginia Department of Health; which includes but is not limited to having a Class A/B/C contractor’s license if the value of the service is over $1,000 and possess a master's plumbers license
