The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is offering for sale one (1) item of standing timber on approximately 20.7 acres within one (1) block at Fort Barfoot Military Installation, Nottoway County, Virginia of which approximately the following volumes to be harvested:
These sales are sold per Item by unit, harvested timber will be sold by being scaled at the receiving mill by WEIGHT by the ton.

Contract Period of Performance:
*Purchaser (s) will be issued a time restricted contract from date of sale with special terms as follow. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the Northern Long- Eared Bat Myotis septentrionalis as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. All tree felling operations are restricted by federal law and must be completed by 1 April 2024. There will be no exception or extensions to this contract to allow for additional tree felling time.
Item # one (1) clearcut harvest – All tree felling shall be complete by 1 April 2024; tree skidding, processing, and hauling as well as all site repair work, if any as directed must be complete 31 May 2024.
ATTENANCE AT THE PRE-BID TOUR IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND ENCOURAGED* Standing timber to be sold may be inspected by prospective purchasers ON THURSDAY 8 February 2024 BEGINNING AT 9:00 a.m.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 12:00 Noon p.m. THURSDAY 15 February 2024 by the Acquisition, Management, and Disposal Section, Real Estate Office, on site at Fort Barfoot, and then publicly opened and announced.
All sale areas are outside of streamside management zones. All timber for harvest is designated standing timber contained within the defined sale area boundaries. Harvest operations and associated work shall comply with the State of Virginia Forestry Best Management Practices for Water Quality. No trees will be harvested within the SMZs. Standing timber herein is located within cantonment areas but may accessible south of U.S. Rt. 40 within Installation property. All harvest blocks are located in training area 22 in Nottoway Co. This timber is military metal contaminated, the Purchaser assumes all risk to their operations in cutting and processing these trees as all designated trees are to be cut and removed, the Purchaser shall notify the receiving mills that this timber is considered metal contaminated.
