Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of this ITB is to provide the City of Hampton with rock salt on an as-needed basis including instances during inclement weather to ensure the safe travel conditions for pedestrians and motorist during winter weather events. The supplier shall be able to provide the materials by delivery with FOB destination to: 2927 N. Armistead Avenue Hampton, VA 23666 and/or 550 N. Back River Road, Hampton, VA 23669; and to make materials available for pick-up by the City of Hampton, or their Designee, at the vendor’s location. General Requirements: 1. Vendor shall provide high-quality rock salt suitable for winter de-icing and anti-icing applications. 2. Rock Salt Stockpile for pick-up and delivery shall be located within a maximum 50 mile radius of the City of Hampton. 3. The supplier shall maintain sufficient stock levels to fulfill any order up to 3,500 tons. 4. Gradation and purity of material must meet ASTM D 632 Standard Grade 1 for de-icing salt. 5. Rock Salt shall be available for City pick-up on the same day ordered within normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. 6. Rock Salt shall be delivered within two (2) business days of order. Material: 1. Rock Salt Properties: a) Bulk de-icing rock salt shall be coarse, translucent to white, crystalline solid NaCl Sodium Chloride which is the mineral halite and may contains between 1 percent and 4 percent impurities, mostly gypsum, shale, dolomite and quartz. b) May contain small amounts of water soluble yellow prussiate of soda to add to its improved caking resistance...
