The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as “VDOT”) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide on-call, as-needed towing services to clear roadways of vehicles (i.e. stalled, abandoned, stuck, etc.) on I-81 from Rockingham Co. line MM 263.9 to: Exit 291 Toms Brook (Shenandoah Co) and for Primary and Secondary routes within Shenandoah Co. South of Exit 291 of I-81 within the Staunton District for the Virginia Department of Transportation, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia; The Contractor shall be capable of providing the following wreckers as indicated on the line item comments: 25 Ton Heavy Duty Wrecker - At a minimum, a 25 ton heavy duty wrecker that is capable of assisting and/or moving Class 1 Light Duty (6,000 lbs or less GVW - 4 tires) through Class 8 Heavy Duty (33,001 lbs or less GVW - 10 tires or more) from the roadways. Contractor shall have the capability to provide up to one wrecker.
