1. The Contractor shall provide towing apparatus and equipment of adequate size and capacity, suitable for providing all services required. 2. Roadside Assistance Services: a. These services shall include unusual vehicle recoveries, removal/installation of drive and axle shafts, jump start, changing flat tires with spare included in the vehicle and locksmith services. b. Unusual recoveries are defined as the use of one or more of the following techniques under the following scenario: The use of air bags, winching, hoisting, up-righting, removing, or otherwise relocating a vehicle when the vehicle is found in such a location, state or position in which it could not remove itself from the location, state or position under the use of its own power, even if it were in complete operating condition. c. Removal of drive/axle shafts should be performed only when necessary to properly and safely recover and transport the vehicle to the County’s designated location. d. The Contractor is not required to be a certified mechanic to remove and install drive/axle shafts. New bolts, straps and service will be provided by the County. e. For refuse packers, large vehicles and fire apparatus, the Contractor may pull the axle in lieu of removing the drive shaft/drive line, as applicable. 3. The Contractor shall provide all ancillary equipment typically required in providing the required services, including, but not limited to, fire extinguishers, flares, floodlights, chains, ropes, dollies, slings, brooms, etc.
