The City of Galax reserves the right to alter the Scope of Work for this project as deemed in the best interest of the City. Trees shall be trimmed as needed to thin, help provide air flow and light filtration, crown top as required, prune away from buildings and cars, provide safe traffic areas, and provide visibility. The tree maintenance shall be done once annually, at or around the end of August. The tree maintenance and pricing shall be broken down into the following sections: Section 1: Trees on the streets of Main, Grayson, and Oldtown; including the Police Department Square. Please note for this section that possible tree replacement is possible within this contract term period which may cause a renegotiation of this portion of the contract. Section 2: Bradford Pear Trees on E Stuart Dr, Route 58, and Middleton St. Trees for section 2 are trimmed on a cycle of alternation years or every third year upon agreement with the City of Galax staff and the Contractor. Prior to trimming the trees during contract period, the City of Galax staff and the Contractor will meet to decide the best option for each year. Bidder shall provide pricing on bid form for both of the following trimming options they are able to perform: Option A: Completely trim all Bradford Pear trees along E Stuart Drive. Each tree will be trimmed entirely and have a well-rounded shape. This option shall be performed in winter season. Option B: Partially trim trees to retain shape. Include minor pruning and thinning to retain shape, provide airflow and light filtration, crown top as required, prune away from traffic areas and vehicles. This option shall be performed in spring season.
