Specifications include, but are not limited to: Excavator type machine capable of operating on slopes up to 50 percent with minimal ground compaction and equipped with a brush rake capable of penetrating 12 inches into mineral soil to remove brush and small tree roots is required. Grass, brush, whips, undesirable and poor quality trees shall be removed. At least sixty percent of the contract acreage shall be scarified to mineral soil. All trees marked, or otherwise, designated, as seed trees, or wildlife reserve trees shall be protected. Standing snags, or cull trees greater than 10” DBH, not deemed to be a safety hazard, shall be left standing. When needed, slash piles shall be pushed into compact, round piles, free of dirt and duff. Piles shall not be placed near seed trees, road cut slopes, or within thirty feet of typed water, or wetlands. Roads shall be left open in a drivable condition. Water-bars and other drainage control structures damaged during this operation shall be repaired. Culvert openings shall be kept clear of debris. Skid trails shall be ripped with the brush blade, where possible, to break up compacted soil. Dips, water bars, cross drains and ditches shall be constructed, or reconstructed, as needed to control erosion. Avoid damaging fences
