Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Bellingham (City) is seeking this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to provide architectural, engineering, landscape architectural, surveying, permitting, environmental, cost estimating, and/or all related services for design and permitting for the renovation, and other necessary work; Elements of design to include, but not limited to: - HVAC Electrification - Renovation of the ground floor: restrooms, children’s area, the Friends of the Library work area, staff break area, boiler room and maintenance spaces, closed stacks, conference room and lecture room. Maximizing the square footage to support flow and continuity of the space(s). - Re-design the ground floor lecture room to support after-hours uses and ability to isolate access from other library spaces for these functions. - Renovation of the main floor entrance including the floor tile and front of building windows. - Redesign of existing help desk on the main floor to improve security and staff safety. - Renovation of the upper floor: redesign and update staff work areas, add needed offices and ensure sufficient I/T space to meet technology needs. - Exterior / esthetic building and landscape improvements, possibly adding a back-up generator for the building. - Incorporate public and staff engagement in the design process, with a focus on equity and inclusion.
