Proactive Storytelling • Focus on telling positive stories and sharing successes of DOA programs and initiatives • Explore new ways to share DOA programs and initiatives to diverse audiences • Create opportunities that inspire positive change in our community • Collaborate with City staff to write scripts, conduct interviews, film, edit and produce videos that amplify important stories Media, Communications, and Public Relations • Devise a strategic plan to increase earned and owned media presence • Build awareness of DOA programs and drive awareness to DOA resources • Build engagement, trust, and advocacy through strategic communications • Develop communications strategies to support DOA programs and initiatives • Develop a plan that considers media consumption by our targeted audience • Proactively pursue positive stories and respond to inquiries – targeting all forms of media: broadcast, print, digital, social, mobile conquesting, etc. as appropriate for each opportunity • Draft various communications, media announcements, messaging documents, talking points, FAQs, media Q&As, etc. • Keyword and behavioral targeting, with an emphasis on reaching the most economically depressed zip codes • Provide advice on a strategy to include media and PR response • Participate in crisis communication and customer service messaging • Support with placing paid advertising when needed (e.g. cost effectively selecting the right media outlets for various target audiences) Social Media Strategy • Develop a plan to increase engagement and outreach across various City of Milwaukee social media platforms while expanding our audience and reach Community Outreach, Engagement, and Accessibility • Develop a variety of tactics to increase engagement within our community in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner • Leverage existing resources to target community members and to advance the health, safety, wellness, and economic-wellbeing of Milwaukeeans in an equitable way
