The Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission DBA U.S. Space & Rocket Center seeks sealed bids for the removal and replacement of the existing flooring in the Space Camp Habitat No. 2 Building.
The Public Bid for the flooring replacement as listed below:

Scope of Work:

Total square footage is approximately 18,000. Work encompasses the installation of Luxury Vinyl Tile in (6) sleeping quarters, (15) Resident Assistant rooms, (2) rest rooms, (1) auditorium, (2) infirmaries, (2) Office areas, (2) Storage areas, (1) classroom, (1) 1st floor janitor closet, (1) Break Room, (1) Other Closet. The contractor shall furnish complete flooring services for these described areas for the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, including all reasonable and necessary labor, supervision, equipment, materials, and supplies in order to complete the project. Installation must be phased sequentially per floor so as to not disrupt USSRC Space Camp schedules.
Flooring – the color and type of flooring shall be consistent or complimentary with the currently installed Luxury Vinyl Tile. The flooring colors shall be:

Teal Oxide for Sick Bay 1
Deep Cobalt for Sick Bay 2
Rouge for Sick Bay Office
Deep Cobalt for Photography Office
Rouge for boarder of Challenger Auditorium
Deep Cobalt for majority of Challenger Auditorium
Medium Gray for all others

Three boxes of medium gray LVT shall be included in the bid as stock.
4” Black cove base will be needed in most areas.

Floor Preparation:

Areas to be floored shall be prepared in accordance with the flooring Mfg. recommendations.
All surfaces shall be cleaned, prior to installation of flooring products.
Areas of work adjacent to other areas that remain in operation shall be screened off from foot traffic, guests, and campers.
Appropriate signage should be posted informing guests and employees of the work that is being performed.
Work scheduling must be done in consultation with the camp schedule to minimize disruption of camp activities.
Sleeping areas contain bunk beds. The movement of furniture shall be included in the work to be performed.
Alpha/Bravo Bay has floor damage on the west wall that should be inspected carefully during pre-bid activities to ensure appropriate consideration is given to this area. This area will likely need some repair prior to flooring being installed.

Cleanup:

All material shall be removed from the workplace at the conclusion of a project.
At the conclusion of a project the area shall be entirely free from materials, dirt, and dust.
All discarded material shall be disposed of properly at the expense of the contractor.

This meeting will allow all potential bidders the opportunity to walk through a guided tour of the worksite to familiarize themselves with the facility.

All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Owner. The bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner’s judgement, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.

At which time and place, each seal bid will be publicly opened and read into the record.
