Description

In general, the project consists of repurposing two Courtrooms (Departments 1 & 2) in the Shasta County Justice Center, with a small exterior canopy addition in the parking lot to facilitate the transport of individuals from the Main Jail to the new Courthouse. Work in the Justice Center will be split into two phases. Phase 1 includes holding area improvements, exterior canopy and sallyport fence improvements. Phase 2 includes lobby, control room, video arraignment, visitation, and programming room upgrades. Project also includes Locking Control/Camera and Fire Alarm upgrades in the existing Shasta County Main Jail at 1655 West Street, Redding, CA 96001. The Shasta County Justice Center is attached to and north of the Shasta County Main Jail.

County will conduct a pre-bid conference and site visit starting at 9:00 a.m., February 20, 2024. The meeting will be held at 1655 West Street, Redding, CA. Meet at the West Street entrance/lobby for the Main Jail. No fee street parking south of Placer Street or in Resource Management/Public Works parking lot at 1855 Placer Street. The pre-bid conference is not mandatory. However, the bidder is required to sign that they have familiarized themselves with the local conditions including, but not limited to inspecting in and around the work areas, the construction of the existing building, access and building security requirements.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 11:00 a.m. local time, March 14, 2024 at the office of the Shasta County Clerk of the Board, 1450 Court Street, Suite 308B, Redding, California 96001, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. Bids received after 11:00 a.m. will not be considered responsive and will be returned to the bidder unopened. Telephone and telefax proposals will not be accepted. Each bidder should mark its bid as “Bid for Jail ITCR Project”. Bids shall be deemed to include the written responses to the bidder to any questions or requests for information of County made as part of bid evaluation process after submission of bid.
