RFP-LE-2013-003 - 2013.003 DEBETZ PIT ENGINEERING SERVICES

Summary of Specifications:
The Public Works/Debetz Pit is a gravel pit at the north end of the Adams County Regional Park that was mined for gravel used as road base from the early 1970’s to 2001 by the Public Works Department. Gravel extraction has ceased and Adams County is reclaiming the lake consistent with Division of Reclamation and Mining Safety (DRMS) permit # M-1977-283. Currently, the lake is being used by the Parks & Community Resources Department as a recreational fishery and as a water hazard for the adjacent Dunes Golf Course. 

As a condition of the December 2010 Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Adams County and the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (MWRD), MWRD is required to provide up to 75,000 cubic yards of trench spoils to Adams County at the Debetz Pit from the construction of the South Platte Interceptor (SPI) and Effluent Pump-Back Force Main (EPB) for the Northern Treatment Plant. MWRD will deliver the trench spoils to Debetz Pit, and the County’s Public Works Department will place the spoils in Debetz Pit. It is anticipated that significant shallow portions of the Debetz Pit can be filled to reduce the exposed surface water area.
