ARAPAHOE COUNTY INVITATION FOR BID 09-36 2009 ROADWAY REHABILITATION PROGRAM
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that there is on file with the Arapahoe County Department of Public Works and Development the 2009 project manual for Arapahoe County Roadway Rehabilitation Program, Bid No. IFB-09-36. Sealed bids will be received at the office of the Arapahoe County Finance Department, Purchasing Division, until 2:00 P.M. local time on the 15th day of April, 2009, for furnishing all labor, tools, materials, and equipment required to construct said public improvement per the plans and project manual on file for public examination in the following locations: Arapahoe County Department of Public Works and Development, 10730 E. Briarwood Ave., Centennial, CO 80112. The Dodge Plan Room, McGraw/Hill Const., 1114 W. 7th St., Ste.100, Denver, CO 80204. ISQFT, 308 W. Fillmore St., Ste. 101, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. Such bids as are received will be publicly opened and read aloud in the Administrative Conference Room, County Administration Building, 5334 S. Prince St., Littleton CO 80166, at 2:05 p.m. local time on the above stated day. The work generally consists of pavement rehabilitation of suburban collector and local roadways located within unincorporated Arapahoe County. The project generally includes street widening, asphalt patching, cold milling and asphalt overlay and includes a separate bid schedule for the 2009 Road & Bridge Asphalt Materials bid. Each bid shall be made on a form provided in the Contract Documents section of the Project Manual and no bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of 60 days from and after the date set for opening of bids. Each bid must be accompanied, in a sealed envelope, separate from the one containing the bid, by a bid bond, cashier’s check or certified check in the amount equal to 10% of the bid price. Bonds shall be made payable to the Board of County Commissioners of Arapahoe. The bonds shall be considered as liquidated damages and shall be forfeited to the Owner if said bid is accepted and the bidder fails to execute the Contract Documents section within 10 calendar days after the acceptance of the contractor's bid by the County. The work herein provided for shall be done under written contract with the contractor submitting the bid, which the Owner deems to be in the best interests of the Citizens. Upon review of bid prices, the County may, in its discretion, add or delete portions of work from this project. The successful bidder will be required to furnish, as part of the contract documents, insurance certificates in the amount specified in the General Conditions, a Performance Bonds and Labor and Materials Payment Bonds, each in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible corporate surety approved by the Owner and shall guarantee the performance of the contracts and guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor, shall protect and save harmless the Owner from claims and damages of any kind caused by the Contractor. The Project Manual, which includes the drawings, may be obtained from Public Works and Development, 10730 E. Briarwood Ave., Centennial, CO 80112, upon payment of $50.00, which amount will not be refunded. Checks should be payable to Arapahoe County. The Project Manual will be available on Friday, March 13, 2009. The Public Works and Development Department will hold a pre-bid conference for all interested parties at 10:00 A.M. on March 25, 2009 at 10730 E. Briarwood Ave., Centennial, CO in the Arapahoe Conference Room. Pre-bid meeting attendance is advised, but not mandatory. The pre-bid conference will be the last time before bid opening at which the Owner will answer questions or provide clarifications/interpretations of the plans and contract documents. Arapahoe County reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, to waive any informalities or irregularities therein, and to accept the proposal that is in the best interest of the County.
