The Arvada Fire Protection District (Arvada Fire/district) is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to support payroll processing, conducive of the nuances of firefighter pay. Assuming the payroll needs can be met, the district is open to exploring other features offered.
The district has an in-house payroll team, that enters and processes bi-weekly payroll. Due to system limitations and the complexities of firefighter pay, the employees do not have access to a clear and precise paystub. The outcome will be to have a system that supports the nuances of firefighter pay, is customizable for future payroll changes, and provides a clear and accurate paystub for employees. In addition to unusual pay, the district will require a system that can accommodate multiple retirement accounts including an Admin 401a plan, a Fire and Police Pension Association (FPPA) Defined Benefit Plan, both with the exclusion of social security contributions. In addition, two 457 plans with separate carriers.
