This Request for Qualifications is for the design of a Notifier Fire Alarm System that reports back to the
Auraria Higher Education Center’s Campus Police Dispatch and Life Safety Offices.
The project is for the King Center located at 855 Lawrence Way. This is an approximately 192,700 sq.
ft. building originally built in 2001, which houses classrooms as well as performance areas and a scenebuilding workshop. The existing fire alarm system in this building is past its useful life. It does not have voice alarm or mass notification capabilities, does not comply with current campus standards, and cannot integrate into the campus wide monitoring network. This project will replace the panel and other components with code compliant equipment that is compatible with and monitored through the campus fire alarm Notifier brand network system.
The current system in the King Center has components that are obsolete and no longer supported or
available from the manufacturer. Campus safety is the primary concern; therefore, replacing the
building components which limit our ability to monitor, communicate, and provide critical notifications is
a major objective. Upgrading the existing fire alarm system to the campus standard Notifier network
system allows for improved monitoring by Campus Police and Life Safety which creates safer buildings
and ensures the response time is reduced to a minimum.
