The Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced consultants for assessing the three-dimensional structure and composition of riparian habitat. The work will focus on assessing habitat conditions suitable to support the federally threatened Preble’s meadow jumping mouse (PMJM) in flood damage riparian corridors. The assessment will be used to inform a flood recovery plan that focuses on the restoration of a self-sustaining and ecologically functioning riparian ecosystem that supports water quality, increased flood resiliency, stream stability, and natural amenities. The work shall include, but is not limited to evaluating and processing existing data (LiDAR, etc.); acquiring data through remote sensing or existing sources (multispectral imaging, etc.); validating/verifying the data with field observations using terrestrial laser scanning and/or other suitable methods (i.e. field vegetation surveys that include shrub and tree identification and/or classification); a final report that includes assessment of the current habitat structure, conditions and recommendations for improving habitat quality and connectivity; and mapping of the riparian corridors displaying habitat structure. The project area will includes all of the watersheds in Boulder County that fall within PMJM habitat range (i.e. all waterways below 7,600’).
