6629-17 - Wagonwheel Gap Road and Fourmile Canyon Creek

This project consists of repairing flood damaged roads and creeks in Boulder County on Wagonwheel Gap Road from Pinto Drive to Lee Hill Road, Pinto Drive and a portion of Bow Mountain Road.  With the flooding event many sections of the roadway were washed away and emergency temporary roadway and drainage features were constructed to carry traffic.  Work will consist of removing the temporary roadway and culverts and constructing a ¾ mile paved roadway on Wagonwheel Gap Road and 0.1mile gravel roadway on Pinto Drive including embankment, rockery, retaining walls, creek crossings, drainage structures, two bridges, tree removal, signage, striping, traffic control and stormwater pollution prevention.
 
In addition, the project includes restoration of portions of Fourmile Canyon Creek that were scoured and degraded by flooding in September 2013.  The project will increase channel and floodplain complexity through the use of benches and large woody debris to promote sediment storage and habitat development.  The proposed project will use earthwork, in-stream structures, and native plantings to provide flood protection and erosion control.
