2022-198 - Early Childhood Education Organization to Operate 3 rooms at the Yellow Brick

The Yellow Brick Building, located at 215 N. Garmisch Street in Aspen, was purchased by the City of Aspen to provide space for childcare classrooms. The Yellow Brick Building, owned by the City of Aspen and managed by Kids First, offers a subsidized lease cost, on-site cleaning/maintenance of the common areas, as a way of demonstrating a strong commitment to high quality childcare for families in our community. The building includes 14 classrooms. Childcare programs in the Yellow Brick Building share the use of playgrounds, gymnasium, laundry, and kitchen, provided at no additional cost.

Effective August 1, 2022, three classrooms (Number 4, 5, & 6) will be available to provide childcare services, although Kids First is flexible on the start date for a new provider, so long as it is on or before October 1, 2022. The current lease is attached to this document.
The City of Aspen intends to enter into an agreement with a qualified organization or individual with the proposal determined to be in the best interest of the city based on expertise, qualifications, and the criteria in this proposal form. Interviews may be conducted by the Kids First Advisory Board for this project. Kids First may contact proposers for the purpose of clarification.
