The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit professional Grant Consultant Services for the City of Aspen.

The City of Aspen was incorporated in 1879 and on January 1, 1972, the city became a Colorado home rule city.  The City of Aspen encompasses 3.9 square miles and is located within the relatively flat valley floor surrounded on three sides by Aspen Mountain, Smuggler Mountain, and Red Mountain. The City of Aspen is a full-service municipality, which provides services including police, community development, recreation, open space, housing, capital assets, engineering, climate action, as well as running electric and water utilities. 
  
The City of Aspen seeks to increase its awareness of grant opportunities and to apply for grants which address key priority city needs associated with all of the city’s departments including and not limited to those that support service delivery, large infrastructure projects, sustainability, transportation, parks and forestry, and affordable housing.  

The 2012 Aspen Area Community Plan (AACP) outlines many of the key priority areas that require ongoing attention and funding support. These areas are often interconnected, and solutions may require regional coordination (i.e. across jurisdictional boundaries). The city recognizes that grant funding is needed for a variety of uses, and the selected consultant should be able to understand the city’s key priorities and assess the validity of funding opportunities to serve those priorities. For example, two priority areas that staff anticipate grant strategy and writing support services are affordable housing and projects that support the city’s sustainability goals.
