RFP-2013-113 - Mill Street Bridge Repair Project

Summary of Specifications:
Project Objective: This project wishes to address deficiencies at the Mill Street Bridge as determined by the City of Aspen 2012 Bridge Evaluation Reports (Exhibit “A”) administered by CDOT. The major finding of the report and focus of this project is excessive undermining of the bike path/walk way at eastern side of bridge. This project will utilize engineering services to design and installing backfill and uniformly graded riprap along edge of bike path/walkway to stop any further undermining. As this area is located within the FEMA Floodway, an engineering analysis will be required for the design and implementation of the riprap repair to prove a “no rise” condition and qualify for a “no rise” or encroachment certification. The riprap design shall qualify for a “no rise” certification by using a compensatory storage/conveyance design method in which on site material will be excavated to counteract stockpiled areas. To complete the design, the Design/ Builder shall use engineering design practices and software accepted by FEMA and CWCB in conjunction with current Floodway Maps and data provided by the City of Aspen (Current Floodway Maps and Models will be provided upon award of this project). The Design/ Builder shall also be responsible for all aspects of obtaining the “no rise” certification for the riprap.
