2017-50485 - Professional Design Services Wayfinding: Streets to Trails Tier One Destinations

The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit professional services for the development of an interpretive and wayfinding plan for the City of Aspen. The selected consultant will develop a comprehensive planning document and design guidelines phased incrementally for a wayfinding system throughout the City of Aspen and make recommendations as to plan implementation and provide an estimate of associated costs for the proposed improvements.
 
A well-defined wayfinding system is needed within the city limits of Aspen to provide visitors and locals with an easy to read and understandable way to navigate between Aspen’s attractions and services. The Parks Department has provided trail signage throughout the trail system for decades and is currently in the process for upgrading the areas within the parks in a separate project. Upgrades in signage system within city limits is required. Additional signage is necessary to provide visitors and residents a comprehensive wayfinding system throughout the city for bicycle routes, trails, parks, key destinations, services, etc.
 
The project includes all areas within Aspen’s city limits shown below. The scope for this piece of the project will include items designated in this document as Tier One. Remaining areas of the City will be included in future phasing projects.
