Description

The following scope of work is to be completed on each building:

Gravel Removal

Spud gravel extending 12 inches upslope from gravel stop.
Store gravel for reuse.

Expose Gravel Stop Flange

Remove built-up felt/membrane to expose 3" of gravel stop flange.
Attach gravel stop with 1-1/4” barbed roofing nails at 6 inches on center.
Clean spudded surface of all dust and debris.
Install asphalt roofing primer to gravel stop flange and built-up felt/membrane where gravel was removed, including all areas to receive new adhesives and membrane.

Three Course Metal/Membrane Transition

Install a full bed, 1/8” thick, of trowel grade modified bitumen adhesive

(Karnack #81 AF) and embed asphalt coated reinforcing fabric (fiberglass or cotton) into adhesive, extending 3 inches minimum onto primed gravel stop and 3 inches minimum onto existing built-up roofing membrane.

Trowel reinforcing to ensure full embedment into adhesive.
Install a full bed, 1/8” thick, of trowel grade modified bitumen adhesive (Karnack #81 AF) to fully encapsulate reinforcing fabric.

Install Gravel

Install a full bed, 1/8” thick, of trowel grade modified bitumen adhesive

(Karnack #81 AF) extending from the gravel stop to the gravel surfacing.

Install/embed gravel surfacing into modified bitumen adhesive within 15 minutes of installation.
