Description

A gravel maintenance access road was installed approximately three years ago for Aurora Water maintenance staff to access the Piney Creek Lift Station air release valves (ARVs) located near the southeast intersection of E-470 and Smokey Hill Road. A section of the gravel access road located in the E-470 right-of-way is sloped from east to west (toward E-470) and maintenance staff have had issues with large trucks sliding off the road when the road is very wet or snow covered, which causes a safety issue. The project includes rerouting and regrading a section of the road to eliminate the tight turning radius and steep slope in order to improve safety of access by maintenance personnel.
