RFP-6.14.2010 - Residential Waste/Recylables Collection

Summary of Specifications:
The City of Edgewater (“City”) owns and operates a trash collection service and is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for the collection of single-family residential trash and recyclable materials (hereinafter “refuse”) on the City’s behalf. The services specified in this Request for Proposal (RFP) represent a departure from the current city practice of utilizing City staff to collect trash. The system being considered would shift refuse collection from being a City staff function to a function that is contracted to a private hauler. Participation in this program will be optional in that residents may opt out of the service, and the contractor will not be compensated for those accounts that opt out. City collection fees will be set by the City and collected through the City’s utility billing system.
