F24-01-006 - Poudre Ponds Bank Stabilization Project

A section of the Poudre River located north of the City’s Poudre Ponds site between 25th Avenue and 35th Avenue has been eroding from spring runoffs. There are temporary repairs that need to be removed and a permanent structure constructed to mitigate the erosion and protect city assets including the Poudre Trail and Poudre Pond’s (Pond A) Slurry Wall.
In 2021, this project location experienced a bank failure on the southern bank (river right) during spring runoff. Contractors protected the remaining bank that summer with temporary large sandbags, followed by an eco-block wall for more substantial protection in 2022. With the significant runoff season of 2023, the eco block wall was becoming undermined, so contractors added large rip rap to the top and toe of the wall to prevent further erosion of the river bed upstream and under the toe of the wall. This is the current state of the project site.
