DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
The project includes the entire length of the Bear Creek Greenbelt, approximately 2.7 miles, from Wadsworth Blvd west to the Fox Hollow Golf Course. Generally the work entails the removal and replacement of the existing concrete trails and the addition of a crusher fines sidepath. The new concrete path will be 10’ and some 12’ width with a 6” depth, replacing the existing 4” x 8’-wide path. The crusher fines path width varies from 4’ to 6’ and includes some areas with chemically stabilized crusher fines material. Trail closures, detours, and project phasing require traffic control, barricades and extensive pedestrian detour signage.
The project also includes the replacement of 2 pedestrian bridges over Bear Creek with new prefabricated, steel bridge structures, concrete abutments and walls, and riprap armoring.
In addition, there are some minor modifications to the Estes St (vehicular) bridge where the trail passes under the roadway. Two concrete ‘flanges’ are to be removed from the abutment under the bridge. In this location the trail improvements require storm sewer and manhole work and concrete retaining walls and riprap armoring.
The work scope includes a wildlife biologist to assess the area for nesting raptors prior to disturbance. In addition, extensive erosion control BMPs, construction fencing, seeding, erosion control blankets, planting of trees and wetland poles and stakes is included.
The project is to be completed within Eighteen (18) months from the date of the Notice to Proceed.
