A Master Plan for Dickens Farm Nature Area was completed in 2013 and amended in 2014 following the historic flood of September 2013, which significantly altered the site. Design development and construction documents for the park were postponed, while a separate project called Resilient St. Vrain Project (RSVP) was initiated to repair damage from the flood and to improve flood conveyance through this part of the city. Portions of the nature area project were incorporated into RSVP, including the St. Vrain Greenway trail and bridges, and the St Vrain Creek water recreation area, which consists of drop structures, water access points, and related improvements. This work is substantially complete. The remainder of the nature area is in the construction documents phase, and the City intends to advertise the bid for the selection of the General Contractor in March, 2019. Construction of nature area improvements is anticipated to begin in April, 2019.
The nature area project is being delivered via a traditional design-bid-build model. The Nature Discovery Area, the subject of this SOQ, will require a substantial design contribution from the Contractor. Improvements within this area are somewhat specialized and will require field adjustments.
Contractors selected through this SOQ process will be listed in the bid advertisement for the Nature Area Construction Project as pre-qualified Contractors for the design and construction of the Nature Discovery Area.
