301313-630143 - Median Landscape Renovations - Tier One

This project will renovate and enhance landscape infrastructure within multiple roadway medians throughout the City of Louisville. The first phase of a multi-year project, “Tier One” medians were identified as being directly impacted by the 2021 Marshall Fire and/or in close proximity to fire damaged areas. Tier One median locations are as follows: McCaslin Blvd from Via Appia north to W Alder Street, Via Appia from McCaslin Blvd east to Tyler Ave and 88th Street from Dillon Road south to St. Andrews Lane.
In addition to repairing fire damage infrastructure, this project aims to maximize the rebuilding opportunity by re-imagining the aesthetic and ecological character of the areas. The goal is to not only make the areas more visually pleasing, but to decrease water use by eliminating turf grass, replace disease prone ash trees and revegetate utilizing a primarily native plant palette.
