The City is seeking the services of a qualified vendor for scrap metal recycling services. Currently, area residents unload their scrap metal items onto a concrete pad with a concrete push-wall encasing three sides. A City equipment operator in a front-end loader smashes the items somewhat, scoops them up and dumps them into the vendor-provided boxes. The vendor then hauls away the boxes upon the City’s request, processing and recycling the contents in an environmentally-appropriate manner. The vendor the City has been using for the past several years has provided 60-CY boxes, which have been ideal for this application. On average, these boxes have been holding about 12,000 pounds of scrap metal per load. The City anticipates continuing with this method of receiving and handling scrap metal with respect to this new agreement.
