2021-002 - Manitou Springs Creekwalk Trail Phases 4 & 5 Survey, ROW & Design

The Creek Walk Trail has been a priority community project since 1989. The trail is identified as one of the top ten critical regional trail projects in the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments Non-Motorized Transportation plan, and will also connection to regional trail systems, such as Rainbow Falls and Ute Pass Trail in the west. The City previously completed construction of an approximately 3,700-foot segment that extends from the City’s eastern boundary to Schryver Park-Pool Fitness Center. At the City’s eastern boundary, the Manitou Springs Creek Walk Trail connects with City of Colorado Springs’ Midland Trail.

Since the first trail segment was completed, the City has obtained funding through state, federal, local, and non-profit sources to design and construct additional phases. Creek Walk Trail Phase 3 (Pool/Fitness Center to Chamber of Commerce at Mayfair Avenue) design is complete, and construction is planned for 2021. The City obtained funding through the CDOT Transportation Alternatives Program and State Multimodal Opportunities funds for survey, right of way acquisition, design, and construction of Phases 4 & 5. In 2018, the City adopted the Creek Walk Trail Master Plan to guide implementation (planning, design, and construction) of the remaining Creek Walk trail segments.
