0 - Fruita Community Center Leisure Pool Resurfacing

The City of Fruita (the “City”) is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to resurface the indoor leisure pool at the Fruita Community Center. During construction of the Fruita Community Center in 2011, Diamond Brite, Blue Quartz was installed. In 2017 large chunks of Diamond Brite came loose from the pool floor causing an emergency closure. During this closure a total of 25 spots of various sizes were cut out and re-plastered. In 2018, an additional 20 spots were cut out and also re-plastered. During the repair work, it was determined that there was some substance (slime or cream) on the concrete shell surface that did not allow the Diamond Brite to adhere correctly
Scope of Services
 
The selected contractor must meet the following:
 

1. Removal all Diamond Brite on the floor of the pool down to the concrete
2. Inspect walls of the pool and remove any weak areas
3. If walls are sound, saw cut perimeter tile and chip out 4-6” of old plaster, to allow for even, consistent transition into the tile.
4. Remove plaster around penetrations such as floor returns, main drain grates etc.
5. Install all new transition tile on to steps in to pool for proper recognition of the depth change, and transition tile in the lap pool before slope in to diving well, lazy river and play pool.
6. Clean and properly prep concrete for new layer of plaster. Should include thoroughly wash down the pool, acid wash.
7. Apply Bond Kote
8. Plaster pool using Diamond Brite, Blue Quartz or similar
9. Acid wash to expose blue aggregate
10. Assist in filling, circulating and treating the pool

1. Performing the work starting Tuesday September 3, 2019 and be completed by Sunday September 15, 2019.
2. Labor and Travel
3. Freight
4. Demolition and removal of all debris, contractor is responsible for providing own dumpster.
5. Safe Shipping and delivery of materials.
6. Communication of any and all damage to the building, decks, gutter systems and floor penetrations.
7. Secure all tools and materials at the end of each day
8. Secure all plumbing, tiles, anchors etc.
9. All work is to be performed in a professional manner in accordance with all Local, State and Federal codes, standards and recommendations.
